The Walking Dead: The Death Of Andrea // art and words by Charlie Adlard and Robert Kirkman (2017)
In the AMC show Andrea lasted until the 3rd season when she was killed off by the Governor. Although her character was well fleshed out, her death didn’t come exactly as a shock for the fans of the show. In the comics her story was expanded to a more central role as she became the right hand woman of Rick Grimes and her life partner. The connection was so deep that even Carl called her “mom”. The comics, keeping with the tradition of giving you a shock out of nowhere and for the sake of the plot going forward killed off Andrea four full years after her show counterpart and next to Glenn’s it’s one of the most heartfelt and sad deaths ever done in comic books. So powerful that even Robert Kirkman wrote an apology to fans in the very same issue.
