all that shit coming forward about those john green click youtube creeps being abusive manipulative rapists is reprehensible and distressing but it’s not a surprise to me in the slightest. this is why you stay away from men of john green’s irk. they’re the kind of guys who subscribe to a feminist ethos that’s palettable and anger free enough to allow them their corner of internalized entitlement without reprimand. they’ll reblog yr post about gender politics, like a photoset of a protest for trans* women health coverage, maybe even go on an “anti slut shaming” tirade in a youtube comment section but completely detach those realities from being at all applicable to their everyday lives. so they’ll log off and coerce a girl into sucking their dick because feminism to them is an acquisition of culture, a means of social and intellectual “street cred”, that is meant to be partitioned. consent theory looks well and nice when articulated in post on your dash but it doesn’t have to exist in THEIR bedrooms.
