Jaime spends much of the issue arguing with the scarab. It wants to use lethal force, he doesn't. He wants to tell people what's happening, it doesn't. Difficult relationship they've got.
Elsewhere, in space sector 2809, a vanguard of the Reach learns that the scarab has just activated. They speculate that it must have been damaged in some hitherto-unseen way, and set off to investigate.
