that’s my biggest gripe. i understand it will always be aimed to young women, but i feel like it doesn’t progress or challenge itself. my ideas about feminism were far from fully developed or nuanced at 17, i honestly don’t think rookie really helped that. planting a seed of ‘girl power’ is good but it sorta begins and ends there with that branch sometimes. which is unfortunate because there are a lot of great women contributors who are very intelligent, and i’ve read pieces before where i genuinely feel like they’ve “dumbed down” their words to read as more accessible to teenagers, which is greatly underestimating young women’s capability in many cases? 

it’s like when they had that campaign to get an interview with obama and the end prerogative was: “we want to hear what obama thinks about BOYS” and not one iota of politics. that really insulted me at 17?
