Jesus Barrero, The Latin American Voice Of Seiya Passes Away (2016)

For many of you in the USA he will be a unknown. But if you grew up watching Saint Seiya in Latín America like I did there was no other voice for Seiya other than Jesus Barrero. An easy going, good man who was very devoted to his craft. He was the quintessential voice for Saint Seiya’s main character as much as Toru Furuya is in the original Japanese dub. He made the character his own for many years: he voiced him in the original 114 episodes of the series, in the four OVAs and the movie Tenkai-Hen, he also directed the Latin American dub of the 29 episodes in The Hades Saga and remixed and re-recorded a special edition of the saga with the original voices for an exclusive DVD set. He remained with the character for SS: Omega despite the hard criticism received by hardcore fans of the saga. His last work was voicing Seiya once more for The Latin American edition of Saint Seiya: Soldier Soul videogame for the PS4. He will be missed.
