In “Hail the King,” Frankenstein Comics' creator/artist/writer Dick Briefer throws in an element that is strictly to serve as a gimmick for the plot. He has Frankenstein’s signature disappear soon after writing it, presented as something of a problem Frankenstein has that we haven't seen before. I hate it when that happens. I know we aren't really looking for consistency in the funny Frankenstein comics, but I'm old-fashioned enough that I don't like those kinds of tricks just dropped into the story.
On the last page a slug says, “Thanks go to Ed Goggin for help on these tales. Dick Briefer.” So, maybe I can just blame Ed.
From Frankenstein #8, 1947. And I don’t dislike the story. I like the two-headed girl. She shows that Briefer could draw a pretty girl when he wanted to.
