The Shriner get a big edition recently when the Supergirl statue I ordered a while back finally came in.
And I literally mean big. This is a giant statue! And it is gorgeous.
It actually all started with the box. This is a very clean reason patient of this statue, with an upper close lock at a very solid sculpture depicting Melissa Benoist as Kara.
The site of the box also does a fine job show casing some of the detailed work of hair, and giving us a close-up of the statue at an angle.
But obviously the statue is the draw here.
It is a simple but great sculpt of Supergirl in a very iconic heroic progress, elbows bent and hands on the hips. The costume itself is very well done with the textured luck of the shirt with the red piping that we see in the show. An there are grade folds and wrinkles in the skirt and in the boots.
What I find most interesting is the expression of Supergirl's face. She has a somewhat pensive look on her face and she looks into the distance. And she isn't looking straight at us, but rather often a slight angle. And there is significant detail to the hair with each lock somewhat defined. There is a great resemblance to Melissa Benoist.
And in an interesting addition, the cape itself is actually cloth.
The statue itself sits on a very solid base.
Here is a look at the statue from a slight angle is well hoping to accentuate the details.
I mentioned that the cape is made of cloth.
In a very fun detail, bendable wire placed on the edges of the cape such that you can shape it and molded into what ever look you desire.
Here I spread it wide see you could get a sense of the size and how manageable it is.
I'm not sure how long I will keep it like this, it seems too fun not to play with.
I mentioned early on though that this is a very large statue.
Just so that you get a sense of the size, it now dominates the center of one shelf of the shrine.
It dwarfs several of the bigger statues that I have. And to make room for it, the Barbie Supergirl, which has anchored the center of the top shelf for years was moved to one side.
Here is a look from afar with the new statue in the center.
I probably need to move some things around to better accentuate the show memorabilia as a group.
This was pricey no doubt. But I think it is a really superb addition to my collection.
