Red Daughter Poll: What Will Happen To Her?

The last several episodes of the Supergirl television show have been the best of the season. From Lex's deception to Red Daughter's timeline to All About Eve, this trifecta of episodes have put a whole new foundation under the season's plots and seem to have reinvigorated the fan base.

Honestly, there has been a ton of chatter on line about these episodes, like a spark reignited everyone's love for the show.

Of course, one of the biggest elements of this new direction is the Red Daughter, the Harun-El based Supergirl duplicate who has under Lex's sway and impersonated Kara last issue. In a throw away line, Eve says the Red Daughter was 'split' from Supergirl by the exposure to Harun-El.

The Red Daughter storyline obviously has to come to an end. So one of the things I have been wondering is what will happen to her. I had a few ideas so I decided to put up a poll on Twitter to see what people thought. And I have to say I got 288 votes, way way more than I anticipated. Thanks to everyone who voted.

The poll was 'What Red Daughter theory do you espouse to?' (I know, clunky grammar.)
1) Reabsorbed
2) Die nobly
3) Depowered (lives in Kaznia)
4) Other

So what did people think was going to happen?

There were two clear front runners. But being reabsorbed into Kara came out on top with 39% of the vote. Dying a noble death cam in second at 34%. Being depowered and living in Kaznia (with Mikhail) came in a distant third at 14% and 'other' came in last at 13%.

Here are my thoughts.

1) Reabsorbed into Kara

Certainly there is precedent for this. In the Superman III movie, exposure to Black K makes Superman go evil. Ultimately a battle for the soul of Superman takes place between his good and evil halves and both are reintegrated. In the opening are of the 2005 Supergirl series, Lex exposes Kara to Black K which splits her into a good and evil form. In Supergirl #5 , it appears that when confronted with their own single nature by Wonder Woman that the Karas merge.

For me it is a cheat. And I also wonder just what our Supergirl would think having the remnants of Red Daughter, who killed a bunch of people in the White House, crawling around her brain.

While this won the poll, this wasn't my vote.

2) Dies a noble death

This also seems like a good choice. Certainly, Crisis on Infinite Earths had Supergirl die a noble death. And it would seem like the perfect screen capture to have Supergirl holding Red Daughter in a pose similar to Crisis #7.

It also would make some sense for the character. We have seen that Supergirl's inherent goodness was present in Red Daughter and it was only through Lex's manipulations that she went down a darker path.

It would be relatively easy storywise to have Red Daughter peek behind the curtain and see how evil Lex is and what his plans. She could then foil them, saving the day and showing that in her core Kara will always be good.

But I also think this would be too simple a choice.

3) Depowered, lives in Kaznia

We have seen on the show that Red Daughter has a strong relationship with the young boy Mikhail. I can see a way that somehow she is depowered and lives the rest of her life in Kaznia as a family member of Mikhail, caring for him while living a simple life.

There is an old precedent in the comics. In Supergirl #19, a depowered clone of Kara decides to live a seperate life from Supergirl.

I suppose this would be a good outcome for Red Daughter. Personally this was my vote.

4) Other

We had some great tweets from people who voted other.

Blog friend @kara_querl said she thought Red Daughter was molecularly unstable. I suppose the thought here is she would either dissipate (like Satan Girl) or explode.

Others liked the idea of living somewhere else just not Kaznia. In a great guess, someone thought she could live on another Earth with the Alex there, an Earth where Kara didn't arrive(as seen in Elseworlds). That's a great guess.

Others thought she could head to an Earth without Supergirl and become Power Girl.

Someone thought she would be killed. Another, sent somewhere only to die in next year's Crisis crossover event (another great guess)! Lastly, someone guessed she would simply disappear.

We have a couple more weeks until new episodes come out. So what do you guys think?
